Biography and Selected Arts
A singer from her earliest days in the sunny mountains of Nothern California, Pruett’s childhood musical education came mostly from her parents vinyl collection – a mix of classical and choir, Jimi Hendrix, Roberta Flack, Janis Joplin, Leo Kottke, Leonard Cohen, John Denver, and Carole King.
Having written songs and compositions since earliest childhood, she sang jazz as a teen in small clubs and with friends, and recorded and released records while moving around the country, to New York, Los Angeles, and Portland.
Pruett studied with The Meredith Monk House Foundation in NYC and continues to use the methods, which became an inspiration for her in 2005.
She has shared stages with Jonah Matranga of Far and Gratitude, Jacob Golden, Sean Hayashi, Mark Kozelek of Sun Kil Moon and Red House Painters, Two Sheds, Ruebi Lynn, Nick Jaina, Coal Beautiere, Karl Blau, Lady Lazarus, Good Shield Aguilar, and others, and has produced music for several artists. She is a member of Tiger Friends Collective.
Pruett has several releases in preparation.

Films
Roses For Maya Deren series, 2006-2012. I have been working on my short film series, Roses For Maya Deren, since 2005. It is a tribute to Maya Deren, a filmmaker who philosophically influenced my frugal style of working and passed away at a sadly young age, but not before influencing generations of artists to come. My practice and my work in this series strongly reference art history while providing experiences and opportunities for new artists and individuals who have never previously participated in making fine art.
Dream Films project, 2011 continuing. Together with Stan Okumura, a young filmmaker from Northern California, a lifetime project was created that invites the public to film their dreams (dreams had during sleep) in any quality of video and share them. These videos are available for gallery showings and we hope they will be shared freely wherever people find them inspiring.
